Best Ways to Sell a Car in Australia While You're Living Abroad

When you're away from home, it can be difficult to sell your car. Many people want to see the car, touch it and take it for a test drive. If you're living in another country while your car is in Australia, you're going to have to work creatively to sell your vehicle.

Family Members

You can ask a family member to sell the vehicle in your absence. They would have the keys to the vehicle and the ability to meet with potential buyers to let them look at the vehicle. Before leaving the country, you'll have to sign the title, so when your family member finds a potential buyer, the paperwork can be completed. Sometimes, potential buyers want to talk to the previous owner of the vehicle. In cases like this, you could set up a time to meet with the buyer on Skype to discuss the car in detail.

Broker

If you don't have family that can sell the car for you, you can contract with a car broker who will sell your car for you. A good broker will be able to sell your car without any additional work from you, but the broker will ask for a fee. They're putting a lot of work into selling your vehicle from advertising to being available for appointments and test drives. You want to be sure that the fee makes sense for the vehicle and amount of work involved though.

Dealer Sales

Options to consider when selling a car are bringing your car to a dealer before you leave the country. With a dealer sale as opposed to a private sale, you're losing some money on the process. While the dealer won't give you as much as a private sale would, you'll be able to sell it quickly before you begin travelling overseas. There are definitely trade-offs that occur with a dealer sale, but you can leave with money in your pocket to purchase a vehicle in your new location.

Buying a Car in Your New Location

When you start living abroad, you're worried about having a place to sleep at night. After that consideration is met, you'll need to think about how you'll commute to work, home and shopping. While public transportation in some parts of the world is the only way to travel, in other areas, you'll need a vehicle. That means buying a car.

Research

You'll have the same problems in various parts of the world that you'd have at home, which is finding out the average price of the car and knowing your rights as a consumer. In areas of Europe, there are protections for consumers while other countries have no protection. You'll need to research your rights before making a purchase.

Taxes

The taxes in many countries can be extreme, and many car dealers want to charge you more money by insisting on loans and financial services. You'll need to figure out how to get the dealer to accept cash, or learn the details of loans in that area of the country. It often helps to bring someone who you trust that is a native of the country.

Insurance and License

As with almost all countries, you'll need to have insurance on your vehicle before you can drive it on the road. The legal requirements for each country will vary, so research is the best way to find out what's required in your new country. While some areas don't require a new license, you might live in a country that doesn't transfer license information. You'll need to find out how long you can drive on your current license before having to get a new one.

Before going overseas, you should decide ways to sell your car that will get you the most money. A private sale will net you more cash than selling to a dealer, but it can create more of a hassle. The money can be used to purchase a car in your new country. Make sure you've researched the requirements of owning a vehicle there.

Boat Engine Maintenance

Boat Engine Maintenance
Its hard being a boat engine! Unlike its automotive cousins, a boat engine is run at extremely high RPMs and under quite a load when in operation and it sits in storage a whole lot of the time. Its kind of the worst of both worlds. Todays marine engines are very well made and unlike their predecessors, really experience very few mechanical problems if they are properly maintained.

Water Pump Maintenance - Most marine engines are cooled by their pumping of lake or ocean water into the engine from a pickup in the lower unit of the outdrive or outboard engine. This water is circulated by a water pump that contains a rubber or plastic impeller or fan which pulls the water from the lake and pumps it up and through the water jacket of the engine to keep things cool. As you might expect, there are sometimes impurities in the water or the operator (somebody else, Im sure) that runs the lower unit aground and the impeller picks up sand, dirt or other grit. These foreign substances wear on the impeller and sometimes cause it to shred into pieces and fail. Also, if the engine is stored for a period of many months, sometimes the rubber of the impeller gets brittle and cracks up. In any event, it is simply a good idea to proactively replace the impeller every 3-4 boating seasons. If the impeller fails while you are running and you fail to notice the temperature rising, your engine can easily and quickly overheat and self destruct.

Oil Change Marine engines are typically not run more than 60-80 hours per year and, therefore, do not require oil changes very frequently. Usually, it is a good idea to change the oil (and filter) once per year at the end of the season. If the old, dirty oil is in the crankcase when the engine is stored in the off season, it can turn acid and damage the internal engine components it is supposed to protect. Of course, 2 stroke outboards have no crankcase and therefore no oil to change. On these applications, it certainly does pay to stabilize any fuel remaining in the tank and to fog the engine with fogging oil before storage.

Fuel Injectors Most newer marine engines are fuel injected and, when fuel is permitted to age and thicken during storage, the fuel injectors can easily become clogged and may fail at the start of the season. To avoid this occurrence, it is a good idea to run some fuel injector cleaner mixed into the last tank of fuel before the engine is put up for storage.

Battery If you take care of your boats battery, it will provide you with several years of good service. You should take care whenever you complete a voyage to ensure that all electrical components are turned off and, if you have a main battery switch, be certain that it is turned off. Whenever the boat is stored for any prolonged period of time, the battery cables should be disconnected.

Lower Unit Lubrication The lower part of your outdrive or outboard engine is filled with a lubricant fluid that keeps all of the moving parts properly lubricated and running smoothly. The reservoir should never contain any water in the fluid. The drive should be inspected at least annually to ensure that the drive is full of fluid and that no water is present. This is relatively simple and inexpensive to accomplish.

BPO in Poland and in Global Perspective

BPO in Poland and in Global Perspective
BPO - Business Process Offshoring. Can somebody do it better? Can somebody do it cheaper? These are the basic questions that company's top management should ask themselves when going for BPO.

Few years ago Airline companies had everything organized themselves. They had their own air planes, airports, pilots, stewards, meals, sales offices etc. Somebody could have hardly imagined that it could had been done differently at that time. Nowadays, it is enough to open a sales office and build a brand name. Everything else may be outsourced.

K.Marcinkiewicz
(Acting Warsaw City President,
former Prime Minister)

This is just to give a basic example of BPO and what the II Forum - Outsourcing Roadshow was about (OCT 20th). Another Forum takes place in Cracow next month.

There is a high global competition in BPO market. Large, multinational corporations, and not them only, are eager to open their service centres anywhere where cost is low, labor is qualified and government supports investments. On the other hand, countries are trying to attract these corporations with different programs and supports. Why should the CEE region be winning these competitions, usualy worth millions of Euros? What does the region has more to offer than Asian countries?

The CEE region has many advantages. CEE countries are very well geographicaly situated. People are well educated and speak foreign languages. For American and Western European countries the cultural differences are not that big and the political and economical situation in these countries are stable. EU membership is another big advantage. "The region is winning over Asian countries because Asians think that confession to mistakes is a weakness", ads another good reason Ms. Anna Sienko - Stragegic Outsourcing Manager of IBM. And why did IBM decide for Polish Cracow?" IBM has chosen Poland, because the Polish students are winning all European IT Olympic games and Cracow is an academic and cultural centre of Poland" further explains Ms. Anna Sienko.

BPO growth brings a lot of business to developers and Facility Management companies. "Everything needs to be done fast, fast", describes Mr. Richard Petersen - Managing Partner of Cushman and Wakefield - the requirements of BPO investors. Investors want a high quality office space, but there are not so many experienced developers in Poland.

Cracow, Wroclaw and Warsaw- these are the most successful Polish cities in attracting the BPO investors. Poznan's authorities haven't even prepared any program for BPOs what explains why the investors aren't opening any BPO centres there.

BPOs stay here for 5 years. After this period they review their situation and decide whether they stay longer or move further east, says Mr. Richard Peterson. The labor cost is very much important for them.

As Andrzej Kaczmarek, Polish Minister of the Economy claims, by the year 2013 we can expect the economy to be based on know-how and the number of people employed in modern business centers, exceed current 15%. The key to achieve that should be investments into innovation. This turn in thinking resulted in redefining the value of investment, which these days is not measured in absolute numbers but in number of vacancies created as well as the share of BPO investments.

M.Kaszuba (Director FDI,
Ernst&Young, former Deputy
Minister of Economy),
A.Kaczmarek (Deputy Minister,
Ministry of Economy), S.Mikosz
(Spokesman, Roadshow Polska)

We can ask why is BPO investment so valuable? First of all, it's more durable then investment into factories - it's easier to relocate a factory then to relocate business centre based on human resources. Secondly, it's more beneficial for the local society as it requires investment into human resources - mainly fresh graduates, who will later on turn into qualified labor-force. Last not least, "money follow money" and clients of investors follow them.

Key factor of BPO investments is a well-defined system of incentives, which supports service centers and resource and development centers, says Marcin Kaszuba, Director FDI of Ernst and Young. Fortunately, this is what receives most budget contribution. Talking about BPO we should clarify a common perception of those services as call centers or similar sort of service centers. This is a misunderstanding. BPO are same important as accounting or other financial services. Thanks to BPO American companies can reduce their cost by 50%. This makes our region attractive enough to consider outsourcing their services here. Now, we should find out how to serve them better. In Philips we are currently facing a problem of finding low-qualified workers. We are missing 500 employees- says Mr. Kaszuba.

Investors also consider how often the programs and laws of the countries are changing. Ernst and Young was preparing a brochure for BPO investors. At the time when the brochure was about to be published, one third of the content was already out of date" says Mr. Kaszuba.

Changes in educational system are required, thinks Mr. Jeremi Mordasewicz - Advisor to the Board, Polish Confederation of Private Employers - Lewiatan. The educational boom in 90s happened mainly due to the private schools, the public sector has been short of sources.

There needs to be a dialogue between schools and companies. Companies are able to predict their future for up to 20 years ahead. Professors should ask the companies what kind of people and education they would require by than.

BPO has the highest employee fluctuations which reach up to 30 %. This is a result of the job itself and also of the high competition among the different service centers. High fluctuation results in salaries' inflation.

To sum up, the CEE region is very good in attracting foreign investors and there is still huge potential left for further growth. In the global outsourcing market, the region has only 1% share. But is it also good in preparing programs how to keep them in?

Poland shouldn't loose its investors in next 5 to 10 years as it has a huge untapped potential in comparison with other countries. Poland expects another 100 000 vacancies as a result of BPO.

Mr. Sebastian Jakubik - Director of Hewlett Packard - sees an opportunity in cooperation between the BPOs. HP has opened a financial and accounting centre for the whole HP group in Wroclaw and it also has launched Point" - Polish outsourcing initiative.

Roadshow Polska proved to be a huge success. The organizers deserve congratulations for a very interesting program, professional organization and execution of this event, attended by some leading top executives.

Brakes 4 Tell-Tale Signs That Could Save Your Life

Brakes 4 Tell-Tale Signs That Could Save Your Life
Just like humans, a car will usually give tell-tale signs that there is something wrong with it. However, too many drivers ignore these cries for help, putting themselves, their family and others in danger. The braking system is by far the most important safety feature on any automobile. Major accidents and repairs can be avoided rather easily if the symptoms are recognized early on. Here are 4 easy ways to avoid a major brake issue and secure yours and your familys life.

4 Tell-Tale Signs:

1. Check em out! Every time your car is at the local mechanic, make sure your mechanic gives you a detailed inspection report on your brakes. Most automotive repair shops such as Midas, Pep Boys, Firestone, and Evans Tire offer a free brake check. Ensure that they measure the thickness of the friction material left on the brake pad, measure the width and the run-out of the rotors, inspect the brake lines and master cylinder for leaks and check for proper braking to avoid any potential hazards. As a consumer, a good way to keep an eye on your brake wear is to check the level of your brake fluid in the master cylinder. If the level is low then seek automotive help.

2. Listen to your car sing! Most of the time your car is very generous about letting you know the brakes are almost due for service. Unfortunately, this sign is often disregarded by most motorists today. Typically as brakes are starting to get low they will make a shuffling sound that is in the rhythm of the tires turning on the road. As you accelerate, the repetition of the noise will increase.

This will eventually lead to a high pitched squeal as the brakes wear down even farther. Brake manufacturers implement this safety feature attached to the brake pads known as the brake wear sensor. Its intention is to be loud and annoying in order to get your attention. How some people continue to drive with this annoyance is beyond me. If you hear this squeaking, consult your local mechanic shop immediately for a brake inspection.

When your brakes start to grind, youve officially procrastinated too long. When your brakes are grinding, the hard metal backing of the brake pad is dragging against the rotor. This equates to a larger repair bill as you will most likely be replacing your brake rotors as well. If this continues to be ignored, it could result in damage to your brake calipers and worse, your car.

3. Get in the groove! Have you ever hit the brakes and had your vehicle shake to a stop? We call this a "brake shake" in the automotive world. It happens when your brakes overheat causing your brake rotors to warp. As your brakes get thinner and thinner, there is less material to absorb the heat put off by them. As you drive your brakes will cool down, but this hot to cold to hot effect causes the brake rotors to warp. If you have a brake pulsation then immediately get your brakes checked out by an automotive service shop.

4. Dont forget the obvious! Fortunately, most consumers dont hesitate to see their mechanic with all brake related issues. A soft or squishy brake pedal could mean that the brake pads or getting low as well. It could also hint of a brake fluid leak or brake master cylinder problem as well. If there is no pedal or as mechanics call it, a "dead pedal", call a brake specialist immediately and do not drive your car!

Bring Your Pupils Face to Face with History in Pompeii

Bring Your Pupils Face to Face with History in Pompeii

One of the hardest elements of teaching history, Classics, or ancient languages can be getting a class to really connect with the subject matter. Some students struggle with making the connection between their own lives and those of people who have been dead for thousands of years, and as a result fail to engage properly with these fascinating subjects.
One of the ways to alter this mindset is to take your pupils to the historic towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum so that they can see for themselves how normal and like them these ancient people really were.

The Real Life Drama of Pompeii

While students may get excited about the drama and horror of the eruption of Vesuvius, actually what many young people find most haunting about visiting Pompeii is the insight it gives into day-to-day life in 79 AD. It is the trivial, almost mundane, details that become the most fascinating for students visiting Pompeii, and the neighbouring town of Herculaneum. Items like beds, food, and bowls remain as they would have been at the moment the volcano erupted and students are able to see these ancient civilisations as similar to their own.

The plaster casts of the bodies found at the site are a brutal reminder of how suddenly life in the city was ended; they tend to have a profound effect on young minds. An absorbing insight into Roman culture is given by the beautiful frescos perfectly preserved within the villas of these towns. Art students and historians alike will marvel at the scenes of life in the first century.

On the tours we organise as part of your school trip, you and your students will be taken around these ancient sites by expert guides who will be able to answer all your classs questions. As well as exploring Pompeii and Herculaneum, your group will get to see the towering form of Vesuvius itself so that they can imagine the moment when the volcano began to show signs of instability and eruption.

Naples and Beyond

Of course, this is more than just a historic school trip. Those teaching ancient languages will be able to highlight how Latin has developed into modern Italian as they explore the bustling modern city of Naples. The Bay of Naples is a fascinating part of Italy in its own right, so you and your group may well choose to spend a day or two exploring the bay and learning more about modern life in Italy.

Links to Modern Curricula

Whether you are teaching Ancient History, Latin, Italian, Classics, or Art History, this trip to Naples and Pompeii can be tailored to tie in to your curriculum. The purpose behind the school trip is the same, no matter what the discipline: to bring your teaching off the page and into the sensory world so that it becomes more real, and more exciting, for each of your students.

There are many procedures to follow and many different tools to use when inspecting or repairing an automobile. Doing a thorough job of inspecting and repairing a vehicle requires more than just looking under the hood. Of course, anyone who works in automotive repair knows this. And they know that providing an automotive lift service is one of the most important parts of servicing a vehicle. Incorporating an auto lift repair & service is the best way to ensure a vehicle is properly inspected and thoroughly restored.

If you want to build a reputation as providing the highest quality automotive repair, then you must have an auto lift repair and service that is second-to-none. The best way to ensure your mechanics are able to examine, diagnose, and repair vehicles in a safe and timely manner is to have an automotive lift service. The days of automotive repairman sliding under a vehicle with raggedy sliding boards are over. In the 21st century people want to see a repair service that uses state-of-the-art equipment.

To be sure, you may already offer an automotive lift service; but the question you must ask yourself is, is it good enough? Technological advances are being made all the time in the equipment used in an automotive lift service. You don't want to be left behind. In order to remain competitive you need to have the tools and equipment that will allow you to enhance the value of your auto lift repair and service. This can only be done by investing in the best equipment available.

Indeed, it is important to remember that automotive lift service equipment is an investment just like any other you've made or plan on making to grow your business. Your auto repair service can only grow on the strength of its reputation and an increase in the number of new customers you attract. An automotive lift service may seem like a minor thing, but it can mean all the difference between a vehicle that has been properly looked at and repaired, with a full view of all the various parts, gears, and combinations under the vehicle, and one that has only been briefly scanned and not thoroughly serviced. A repair shop in which vehicles are fixed in the first instance tends to do much better than one in which drivers have to return again and again because of the same problem.

Fortunately, finding the best in equipment for an automotive lift service is not that difficult. And the place to begin your search is on the worldwide web. The web gives you the ability to bring many of the vendors selling this kind of equipment to you. This will give you to opportunity to compare the price and value of the many firms offering this kind of equipment. Using the web will also enable you to find out the reputation of a firm. The best predictor of future performance is past performance. And the firm with a proven record of delivering high customer satisfaction is the one most likely to meet your needs and expectations.

Building Customer Rapport

Building Customer Rapport
To create a positive relationship with customers, you want them to feel comfortable with you. Here are some ways to quickly establish good rapport with your customer.

Create a positive impression with body language.
A smile and relaxed, open body position is an invitation to your customer to approach you for help. Scowls, frowns, and folded arms create boundaries with people. Even if you're talking with the customer by phone, your body language plays an important part in the message you deliver. Your tone mirrors your posture.

Match your speech pattern to your customer's.
Matching your speech helps your customers identify with you as someone who is "one of their kind." There is a difference in matching and mimicking your customer's speech pattern. You don't want to mimic someone's dialect nor do you want to match emotional tones such as anger or sarcasm. But if your customer talks slow, talk slow. If your customer has a soft voice and you usually talk loud, match your customer's volume. If your customer speaks very informally, using clichs and colloquialisms, then you do the same.

Build trust with a confident tone.
Stammering, word-fillers, and pauses can create the impression that you are unsure of your job, incompetent, or passive. Your tonevolume, pace, pitch, word choicecreates or destroys trust. Speak confidently to your customers.

Avoid a condescending, haughty, impatient, or irritated tone.
Stay away from any "judging" tones. Keep your voice and words friendly and assertive, yet empathetic when appropriate. "Thank you, Mr. Jones, for waiting. Please give me your I.D. number, and I'll pull your file immediately. I understand that you need to get this matter taken care of today.

Inject energy and enthusiasm into your interaction.
You can do this by varying voice tone and rate of speech, as well as by using active body language. Show that you care and that the customer is your number one concern.

Use the customer's name to personalize service.
Everyone likes to hear his or her name. When you call a customer by name, you add that personal touch to your service. However, you don't want to address a customer by "Honey," "Sweetie," or some other inappropriate nickname.

Be informal without being overly familiar.
A "professional" tone does not mean a formal, stiff tone. As you speak, you should be conversational, using short sentences, simple words, contractions, and even occasional slang. But in an attempt to be informal, be careful not to be slapstick, corny, obscene, or too familiar. At best, these may create doubts about your professionalism.

Choose positive or neutral words.
Words trigger emotions. Avoid words that trigger unpleasant emotions, such as complaint, upheaval, fake, and terminate. Use positive or neutral words, such as concern, update, substitute, and conclude.

Frame the positive approach.
In addition to choosing positive words, remember to express your message in a positive way. Say "The customer service desk will be happy to approve your check for payment at any register," rather than "I can't take this check at my register. You have to go to customer service to get it approved."

Be clear and specific.
Vagueness in communication causes misunderstandings. Commonly used vague terms include as soon as possible and at your earliest convenience. Your customer deserves specific information.

Keep your promises.
The surest way to diminish trust with customers is to break promises. If you promise Mrs. Bronson to check on an order and call her this afternoon, do it. No matter what the excuses or foul-ups on someone else's part, you should take responsibility to follow through with what you told the customer.

Tell the truth.
Don't lead your customer on with false information. If the shipment isn't coming until Monday and you know that product A is on back order, tell her the whole truth, not simply that the order will arrive on Monday. Tell the truth upfront to minimize false customer expectations and the resulting anger. Customers forgive errors if they can always depend on you for the truth.

It seems some states are asking the benefits of their situation vehicle inspection programs. In fact, it has terminated their examinations as of mid-2010. Are there any advantages to yearly vehicle examinations or are they just a way to get more of our money? Do you think fix centers used examinations as make use of to force you to make needless maintenance on your car or truck? Or do you think that protection examinations are an important way to keep the vehicles on our streets in safe operating condition?

When vehicles age and get scrapped, they cannot simply get came back returning to the street until they meet situation protection specifications. In Mo, repairing or repairing a restored care needs a situation inspection before the car can go returning on the street. These specifications implement to exclusively designed, renewed or rebuilt save automobiles. And they need Vehicle Inspection for various requirements.
Currently, only a small number of car types are needed to go through yearly vehicle examination assessments and these generally include hire-and-drive automobiles older than three decades, vehicles used as cabs or personal seek the services of automobiles, minibuses, vehicles, trainers, larger products automobiles and all articulated products automobiles.

The assessment exercise is considering the likelihood of increasing some way of analyze program to personal vehicles, which currently are only subject to a one-off analyze if they are more than three decades of age when first brought in to the isle.

Retrieve Vehicle

According to the Mo Division of Income, a save vehicle is any vehicle that was broken within seven decades from the model year and which the all inclusive costs to fix it to the situation it was in before being broken was at least 80 percent of the car reasonable market value. The car proprietor must have the certificate finished by exclusively specific workers of the Mo State Road Patrol or the St. Louis City/County Auto Robbery Unit. So it will be more help complete with Pre Purchase Car Inspection.

Examination

A save vehicle inspection conducted by an approved situation associate includes all places of a car needed for it to function securely in Mo. This inspection includes such places as braking mechanism elements as well as wheels, fatigue program, energy program, protection straps, bumpers, signaling devices, and mirrors; each of which has its own analyze factors. For example, braking mechanism examining includes the examiner performing a decelerator analyze that analyze the car deceleration performance at a speed between 5 and 20 mph. And these are most important reasons for examination.

So you are in the market for a great used car. You want one that will start every time you turn the key. You want one that will get you where you want to go safely and economically. You want one that will look good and be fun to drive. You can have all of these things in a car, and you can have them more easily if you remember these 5 things when you are car shopping.

The first thing to remember is that our car will almost always depreciate. It will get older and parts will wear out. It will get scratched, dented, dirty, and it may rust. The longer we own the car, the less valuable it becomes. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's okay for our car to depreciate, if it provides good service to us. The decrease in value should balance with the good use we receive from our car.

The second thing to be very clear on is that people get emotional about their cars. Its part of the human condition to get attached our car, because our car is really just an extension of us, of our ability to go where we want, and of how we look and feel when we do that. We identify with the way our car looks to us, and the way we feel about that. These emotional influences can distract us from facts that are screaming at us when we go to buy the car. It is hard to not become emotionally involved, but we can be aware of these influences when we get close to buying a car, and that can save us from making expensive mistakes.

This leads us to the third point which is that we need to be extra smart when buying a car. To buy our car well we need to be smarter than the average person is about buying a used car. This is not that hard to do! Making a good buy can lessen the financial hit we take from depreciation, save us money on the purchase itself, and potentially save us thousands of dollars in the years following our purchase.

The fourth thing to remember when buying a used car is that cars are complicated things! Some are built better than others, and some have been maintained much better than others. We want a well built, well maintained car. You may not know all the questions to ask, or all the things to look for when buying a used car, but you can ask someone who does. Having a mechanic check out a car for you before you hand over all your cash can reduce the risk that complexity brings.

The fifth and final point to remember is that cars are much easier to buy than to sell. In fact, it is quite easy to buy several of them in one day! Anyone can do it. Selling them is much more difficult. My point is this: Don't be in too much of a hurry to buy a used car. If you can't find one you really like the first time you look, don't be discouraged. The ideal car for you will come along if you look systematically for it. Taking your time to find a good one will pay off in the long run.

Buying a Used Car - A Smart Move

Buying a Used Car - A Smart Move

If you cannot afford a new car, the alternative is to buy a used one. Used cars can be very good, or very bad, or somewhere in between. It is important to choose a car within your price range, but the main purchasing decision should be the condition of the car. A cheap car in terrible condition will cost you more money in the long run.

Where To Buy

Used cars can be purchased from a dealer, from used car lots, or through private deals.

Usually a well established dealer is the best choice. Many used car lots are very reputable, however, as long as they are well established in the community and have acquired a good reputation for fair prices, a good warranty, good service, and good quality cars. Private deals may save you some money, but usually no warranty is given, which means that you are definitely taking a chance. A private deal between two citizens may also encounter such difficulties as financial liens, stolen cars, and mechanical problems. Any one of these circumstances could cause undue worry and expense.

What to Look For

When buying a used car, it is a great asset to have a good knowledge of automotive mechanics. Even if you do not, however, there are certain pointers which are always helpful to keep in mind.

First of all, don't put too much faith in the indicated number of miles that the car has travelled. Sometimes an adjustment of the odometer reading is made by the vendor, to indicate fewer miles than the car has actually been driven. A car two or three years old may have seventy or eighty thousand miles on it, yet only indicate twenty or thirty thousand.

Do not be misled by a sharp looking car. It may be worn our mechanically. It is nice to have a car that looks good, but don't let that be the sole deciding factor.

When you have shopped around and found a car that is the proper size, is properly equipped, and looks dependable, ask the salesman for the name of the person who owned the car previously. Contact that person if possible, and get the history of the car. Is the mileage on the odometer correct? Has it been in a collision, and if so, how badly was it damaged? What trouble has he or she had with it? Why did he sell it? Most people will be honest with you.

If you cannot find the previous owner, then you must use other means of deciding whether or not to buy the car. If you are not familiar with automobiles, it is a good idea to have the car checked by a competent certified mechanic, or else take it to a mechanic for inspection. This could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in future repairs.

By all means road test the car before you purchase it, and look at some of the tell tale facts about the car. Is the body in good condition, with no dents, rust, or other significant damage? How does the car steer in the city and on the highway? Do the brakes operate evenly and stop efficiently? Are the body and chassis tight, or do they rattle? Look at the instrumentation panel for indication of a malfunction. How does the engine operate? Is it smooth and quiet, or does it make noises or run unevenly at different speeds and under different load conditions? Does it start easily? Is the exhaust system quiet and are there any odors of oil, gas, or exhaust fumes when it is cold or hot? Look at the chassis and the underneath parts of the car. Observe oil leaks at the engine, transmission, and differential. Check the exhaust visually for any signs of weakness. Check the springs and shocks for breakage or looseness, and the suspension parts for wear or damage. Look at the tires for good tread and even wear, and don't forget the spare and the jack. Uneven tire wear indicates suspension and steering conditions which are expensive to repair.

Check the safety items such as the inside and outside mirrors. Make sure there is no broken or cracked glass. Check the seat belts and seat belt anchor bolts in the floor - the anchor bolts may be rusted. Check the seat adjuster, the automatic locks and the door hinges.

Car dealers spend four or five hours cleaning a car to make it look good, and to cover up any obvious signs that it was poorly cared for. If the engine looks clean on top, look at the bottom - they do not wash the bottom of the motor.

After you have had the car inspected, if you think the price is fair, ask the dealer to make any repairs that you feel are needed as a condition for your purchase. If he refuses to make the repairs - neither should you. If this happens, look somewhere else for another car.

California Junk Yards Catch the Green Wave

Junk yards in California have gotten on board the big green bus of environmentalism and are on the cutting edge of the latest in environmental procedures. Not exactly something one would expect when conjuring up images of piles of rusting cars protected by one old mean junkyard dog. Thats because that image has become as much a relic as the cars that sat in them used to be. Today these are know by the politically correct but no less accurate term, automotive recyclers. And in fact these automotive recyclers began recycling parts back when "use it then lose it" was the hot trend of the day.

The automotive recycling industries in California and elsewhere have invested more than $50 million in technological advances to implement new stricter environmental protection laws. Most of these laws pertain to the collection and safe disposal of hazardous waste materials that are contained in non-operative automobiles. Chemicals such as motor oil, brake and transmission fluids, Freon and mercury contained in light switches are all products that must be properly handled to prevent them from finding their way into ground water and air.

Along with protecting the environment, California auto recyclers work to reclaim hundreds of thousands of pounds of steel. All of which is recycled into new parts and vehicles. It has been estimated that auto recyclers have recovered enough steel since 1997 to manufacture 13 million new cars. In this way, salvage yards in California are providing an invaluable service to the community. Every ton of steel recovered means precious reserves iron and aluminum ore are left undisturbed. Not to mention the savings on pollution and the energy needed to manufacture the new parts and vehicles.

Another service provided by the salvage yards that people these days can really use is the reclaiming of parts that still have hundreds of miles left in them. When a car is brought into a salvage yard, many times it may have just one or two major things wrong. This leaves an innumerable amount of perfectly good working parts are left to be removed and resold. This means a savings of money and time for most consumers. The cost of buying a quality used part is usually a third of what it would cost to by that same part new at a dealership, and in with todays economy that is a savings anyone can appreciate. Most California salvage yards also utilize a direct access inventory system also. When a part is removed from a vehicle it is inventoried into a computer system. Other salvage yards throughout the state and across the country have access to this inventory. This usually means that locating a part is as easy as calling the nearest auto recycler and even if they do not have the part themselves they can find someone who does. Whether the part is located across town or across the country most salvage yards will ship the part directly to your door. California salvage yards today are leading the way in saving time, money and the environment.

Call Center Morale Boosting Strategies

Call Center Morale Boosting Strategies
Image source: https://www.salesforce.com/content/dam/blogs/ca/Blog%20Posts/How%20to%20Increase%20Productivity%20Without%20Increasing%20Stress_Open%20Graph%20Image.png
Morale is deceptively important in the running of an efficient call center. The reason it is deceptive is because while most bosses acknowledge the relationship between morale and productivity, few call center bosses are able to accurately pin down a decrease in productivity as being directly related to a lowered morale. The reason it is important is the same; namely that a higher morale means happier workers, which in turn leads to an overall increase in call center productivity.

What does it mean to have high productivity in a call center? Well for starters it means a higher level of customer focus, as call center agents with higher morale are going to sound more pleasant over the phone. It is human nature to unconsciously let feelings show through and in a job that involves a large amount of telephone conversation, it becomes easy to see how an unhappy worker can result in customer complaints and unnecessary headache further on down the road.

More than just customer focus, high morale in a specific worker can lead to that worker contributing to a more relaxed working environment, which in turn can have a positive morale effect on another worker. This worker then contributes to an even more relaxed working environment and so forth. Morale boosting can create a positive feedback cycle that benefits the whole staff of a call center, thereby making things easier for everyone involved.

So how can one increase the morale of their call center staff? The first step is in understanding what causes morale drops in the first place. Call center employment, as far as front line services go, is the ultimate emotional roller coaster ride. A worker can receive a compliment from one customer that makes them feel great and thirty seconds later be in tears from an angry client using harsh words against them. While it is impossible to avoid angry clients, attentive bosses can take steps that diminish the impact angry clients and other potential obstacles have on the morale of their staff.

The best morale boosters are ones that understand how humans work and think. Incentives are a good way to start; a bonus for achieving a milestone (such as working a certain number of hours without receiving a complaint) is something that will make a worker feel special, as well as let them know that their boss is looking after them directly.

Recognition is another important form of morale boosting that is frequently overlooked by call center administrators. Human nature is such that even a simple thank you can last a long time. Call center staff that have been working the phones a long time develop a confirmation bias that magnifies one type of call and diminishes another in their memory. If their bias is toward positive phone calls, then half the battle if done. If however it turns out to be toward negative phone calls, they will need help to keep their morale high.

And that is where recognition comes in. Finding a way to recognize workers on a regular basis for a job well done can really keep them in high spirits, allowing them to get through that next bad day with less effort than otherwise. Remember what I said above about the positive feedback high morale can generate? Recognition is a simple way to start that loop.

In conclusion, a good way to view call center morale is to think of it as a tool of the trade that is used to increase worker productivity. Call center administrators need to be savvy enough to realize the important relationship between worker morale and worker productivity. High morale is one of the most important aspects of a good call center and with it the sky is truly the limit to what workers can accomplish.

Can the Nutrisystem Diet Work for Diabetics

The over-abundant food selections and varieties we have today have also paved the way for diabetes, a lifelong disease that can affect us all regardless of race, age, gender, and social status.

A person with too high blood levels instantly becomes a member of the ever-increasing statistics of diabetics that unfortunately grow rather than diminish. The swift rise of obesity all over the world has become alarming needing stricter measures when it comes to unhealthy food selections and an inactive lifestyle.

Diabetes has two main types:

Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune condition wherein the insulin-producing cells are attacked and destroyed by the immune system of the body
Type 2 diabetes is a health condition wherein an inadequate insulin is produced by the body or due to the bodys non-reaction to insulin

Between the two types of diabetes, type 2 is the health condition that has become commonplace the world over.

People having above-normal blood sugar levels are not diagnosed right off as diabetic. However, they are now in the pre-diabetes area with a bigger chance of eventually becoming a full-blown diabetic.

The only way to counter this health condition, whether in the pre-diabetes or diabetes stage is to drastically change the lifestyle. Going from sluggish to active and opting for foods rich in fiber and protein are the best ways to reverse or avoid altogether the devastating effects of diabetes.

Diets have come and go with little or big success, depending on a persons attitude. Some diets went against the grain when it comes to health such as the liquid diet, the one-a-day eating diet, etc. They were flash-in-the-pan diets that were so extreme and unhealthy as well.

A good diet does not have to deprive the body its basic nutrients for it to achieve weight loss. A good diet means getting all the benefits from nutritious foods that can sustain the energy levels throughout the day.

The Nutrisystem Diets arrival on the scene to claim weight loss as much as 5 pounds in a week while improving the health of the body is too good to be true. Can this finally be THE diet to help diabetics lose weight and lower down their blood sugar levels at the same time?

What is the Nutrisystem Diet and what does it claim to have?

Meal planning and portion control is what the Nutrisystem diet is all about. Blood sugar has been found to be the first to be affected by the various carbs taken into the body. There are good carbs meant to be slowly digested such as whole grains and veggies that are high in fiber and protein. Filling your digestive system with full-packed protein and fiber carbs keeps you full longer, thus stabilizing your metabolism and blood sugar.

The prepackaged meals created by Nutrisystem not only pack in the nutrients needed by the body, it also leads to weight loss. Shopping, purchasing, and preparing foods that include all the healthy carbs to curb your appetite and make you lose weight need not be a time-breaking chore when the prepackaged meals can be delivered right to your home.

Losing weight can now be achievable and doable with the new Lean 13 plan of Nutrisystem that claims to make women lose 7 inches and 13 pounds on the first month of the diet, with men losing as much as 7 inches and 15 pounds for the same period of time.

The D Plan from Nutrisystem aims to lose weight, control and maintain the weight loss, and control and prevent diabetes.

Whats the D Plan and how can it manage diabetes?

The D Plan is Nutrisystems answer to the burgeoning health problems of obesity leading to diabetes. The plan aims to:

Sustain normal levels of blood sugar while promoting weight loss
Provide a balanced prepackaged meal for an effective, yet safe, weight loss
Provide frozen foods that are delectable and top-of-the-line anytime you need it
Prevent blood sugar level spikes by keeping it steady with snacks and meals every 2-3 hours
Provide a total count between 1,200-1,500 calories of nutritious meals a day to keep you full for longer periods
Feel happy with the meal choices while maintaining the stability of your blood glucose

There are three diabetes plans to choose from with the Nutrisystem D:

Yet, the thousands of customer reviews that only have high praises for Nutrisystem tells you the success story of the company.

The best thing about these meal plans is their 30-day money back guarantee. This is one offer few, if none at all, food service companies can ever beat, hands down.

As you know, I have been writing about the new technology Dutchman Enterprises has developed for an enormous increase of gas mileage for trucks and SUV's. In the past they had some issues around EPA approval and they were in a pickle to grow a network of dealers because the car manufacturers didn't want to work with them. It must have taken the recent downturn and the almost total collapse of SUV and truck sales to get a little more open minded towards technologies available right now. Dutchman Enterprises send me the latest update below today, and I feel anybody interested in ways to reduce gas mileage would want to stay up to date. I realize that adopting a new technology that hasn't been approved by any large manufacturer is tough.

This is a sign that times might change. I don't believe the claim about the price, as mass production should actually lower it. I don't think buyers will pay $3000 - $4000 more for a truck with the system installed. With larger production numbers prices typically go down. Dutchman probably wouldn't want that, but if they can make a profit with the current prices, they will make a killing when Ford and others put their efficiency models into the production ramp up, even if the individual system price goes down by 50%, which it probably has to if the numbers of sales are to be increased significantly. We still have a credit and financial crisis, not just an environmental crises. So here is what the news from Dutchman said:

"Dear Axel Meierhoefer,

Hello from Dutchman Enterprises. We appreciate your having taken the time at some time in the past to request a quote for a PICC for one or more vehicles(s). We were concerned about EPA issues with the technology originally, but we have re-designed around those considerations and we are no longer concerned about our special catalytic converter qualifying with the EPA. With gas prices rising as they have, other large interests have been looking for solutions to some of their problems and we have discovered a common interest in helping the American car manufacturers get back to doing what they do best & make the kind of vehicles Americans want. The door has opened for us to better serve the American consumers. We have some extremely important news. Ford and Dutchman have been talking and Ford finally gave permission for Dutchman to tell the public what is going on. This last weekend, a Ford executive spent several hours speaking to the dealers involved in distributing the Dutchman Enterprises automotive technologies at their annual dealers convention.

Dutchman Enterprises can now announce that the initial meeting with representatives of Ford Motor Company went very well and both parties are excited about testing the HAFC and PICC and for the potential of improving fuel economy for American automobiles. The initial reaction of the Ford team involved was excitement and enthusiasm over the potential of both the HAFC and the PICC. Discussions have begun about both companies partnering together to further develop these technologies.

Dutchman Enterprises received a letter from the engineer that is heading up the Ford team to test the HAFC. In that letter from Corporate Headquarters in Dearborn Michigan, the leading engineer wrote, the (HAFC) concept makes good sense. There have been critics at large who have challenged the idea of water gas and called it a scam technology, but one has to consider the fact that no one knows more about automobiles and what makes sense relating to them than the engineers who design and build them. This same engineer, in the same letter, wrote: We are also excited about the potential of the PICC technology. Ford is discussing getting involved because these technologies make sense. Their testing is supposed to be over on or around October 1st, and the executive that addressed the dealers gave everyone the impression it was going well. They have even asked for more units and that is a good sign.

Mr. Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Company, was interviewed on CNBC on the 12th of September, and he told the reporter that there are some interesting things happening in the alternative fuels area. He said, Hydrogen technologies, involving water, offer some incredible opportunities to do something with the engines we already have. That is not a statement about regular Hydrogen Fuel Cells, which do not operate with current engines. It is reasonable to assume he is talking about water gas injection and the Hydro-Assist Fuel Cells, which his people are currently testing. Of course, Dutchman Enterprises is excited about the prospects of partnering with Ford Motor Company and their thousands of Ford dealers all across the USA and throughout the world. Not to mention the engineering and research prospects for developing the PICC to its full potential. It is not hard to see why Ford would want to be able to get 50% (or even 30%) better mileage out of their existing SUVs and Pickup trucks. It could save the US auto industry to be able to develop the PICC within a year or so to be able to get 100 miles per gallon or better (city and highway) with future SUVs and Pickups. Both of these technologies have world wide patent protection owned by Dutchman Enterprises.

What does this mean to you? It is time to seriously consider getting your HAFC kit on order NOW. The Ford executive mentioned that he thought our prices were too low and that they should be double what we are currently charging. I guess he is right, because we were charging the same price we currently charge for the kit when gas prices were half what they are now. When Ford comes in that will most likely change. The demand will also go through the roof! Just to modify the Ford vehicles will involve 60 million cars. A word to the wise, get your HAFC on order. The PICC will most likely not be on the market for another year or so. Ford will want to develop it with new car designs in mind, while Dutchman Enterprises will absolutely insist on an after market version as well, but that will delay it for well over a year down the road.

In the meantime, can there be any doubt now that the concept of the HAFC is sound and can improve fuel economy? You have the benefit of being able to get a little ahead of the curve while the price is half what it will be and while there is not a waiting list as long as the gas lines in the 70s.

As, we are sure, you have already discovered, we have assigned a customer service representative, who works for one of our dealers, to you. If you have any questions about this message, please contact Manager, your customer service representative, using this email address, support@preignitioncc.com. Let our representative do his or her best to answer all your questions and get your HAFC kit in process. One report we recently read made the point that by merely increasing the mileage of vehicles in America by a mere 30% we could eliminate our need for ANY of the middle Eastern oil! Can you imagine what we can do for America and American car manufacturers just by installing the HAFC kits now?

When Ford joins us, we will be able to put a LOT of people back to work and stop this fossil fuels insanity. With their help, our PICC will be all that it can be, and all American car manufacturers can get us all the cars and pickup trucks we want with no concern for fuel costs or pollution. This is the answer we are all looking for. Thank you for your support in this effort.

If you have any questions about this announcement, please contact your customer service representative who is Manager using the his email address, support@preignitioncc.com."

Keep your eco-conscious mind sharp!

A car would be stranded without a fuel system. Before experiencing this bad situation, learning some repairing techniques might be helpful. One might want to learn repairs for an automotive fuel system. A car's fuel system is based on either a carburetor or a fuel-injection system. The car service manual can tell which one is present.

Carburetor Replacement

The carburetor is a vital part of a car's power system since cars first drank or guzzled gas. To replace a carburetor, follow this simple guide:

1. Open the car's hood and find the carburetor. It is under a metal part known as the air-filter housing. The large hose has to be disconnected and remove the nut from the housing.

2. After seeing the carburetor, the throttle linkage and carburetor fuel line has to be disconnected.

3. Now the carburetor has to be removed. Many cars would require removing a couple of nuts at the edges.

4. The gasket between the intake manifold and the carburetor has to be removed. You must rub it off if it's stuck.

5. Rebuild or buy the carburetor. Rebuilding a carburetor means to take it apart, drench its parts in a cleaner, re-assembling the parts and then adjusting them by following the kit instructions.

6. Now put in the rebuilt or new carburetor in a reverse way in how it was taken out. Install the new carb, new gasket, attach the lines, a new air-filter housing and then the earlier one.

7. Finally, the carburetor can now be adjusted by following directions in the service manual.

Repairing Fuel-Injection

Fuel-injection systems are simpler as compared to carburetion systems. For proper working of the car, they may need sporadic repair or replacement. Throttle-body and multiport are the two most common types of fuel-injection systems nowadays. A throttle-body fuel-injection system is comparable to a carburetor while a multipart fuel-injection system controls the fuel distribution electronically.

To repair fuel-injection systems, follow this simple guide:

1. First, the pressure has to be relieved in the fuel system because fuel-injection systems are pressurized. The procedure is mentioned cars service manual or an aftermarket manual. Normally the filler cap on the fuel tank is removed and the specified pressure reliever is loosened.

2. The manufacturer's directions have to be followed for testing, repairing or replacement of components. Sometimes, a system can be simply fixed by tracing down all the wires and hoses.

3. In case the car's fuel-injection system is repaired within a reasonable time and cost, one should not try to act superior.

Repairing Fuel Tank and Fuel Line

For repairing fuel tanks and fuel lines, follow these steps:

1. Inspect the car's fuel tank and fuel lines and look for little wet spots. Touch them with a touch and sniff it to see if it is gasoline. If it is, then find other leaks and it should be repaired or replaced.

2. For repairing the fuel tank, buy an external or internal fuel tank sealer and apply it. External sealers are easily applied to the external holes of the engine and internal sealers seal all seen and hidden holes.

3. For replacing the fuel tank, it has to be depressurized first. Then draw off the fuel from the tank into gas cans. Separate the fuel tank from the output fuel line and inlet pipe. Take out the straps that attach the fuel tank to the car, Replace it with a re-built or new replacement tank.

4. For repairing a fuel line, it should be first determined how much replacement it needs. A rusted fuel line will quickly entice other holes and must be replaced while a damaged line can be repaired. A rubber fuel line which has a leak is probably old and needs to be replaced completely. A straight fuel line along with some flaring and bending tools would have to be purchased to fit it in the car.

Fuel Pump Repair

For repairing the fuel pump, follow this short guide:

1. Locate the fuel pump, the car service manual guides in pinpointing it.

2. Test it by removing the fuel lines from the pump. Use Vise-Grip pliers for clamping a rubber input line or use a cap or a wad of putty for a metal line. Check the fuel pump output pressure and volume.

3. For removing the fuel pump, remove its mounting bolts. Disconnect any electrical wiring. Draw off any gas present in the fuel pump. Be cautious and don't smoke while working.

4. The fuel pump has to be replaced with the one which has the same output. The car's specifications tell about the volume and pressure produced by the fuel pump.
